Inprint's 2007 Poets and Writers Ball
The Poets and Writers Ball, Inprint's annual fundraiser, will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2007, at the Houston Country Club, 6:30 p.m. Featured guest will be award winning novelist Kaye Gibbons, author of Ellen Foster. The Ball promises to be a special occasion with three local writers giving short readings before dinner, literary table displays from the collections of volunteers, a menu by Elouise "Ouisie" Jones, an after dinner talk by Kaye Gibbons, and great music! This year's Gala Chairs are Pat and John Harris. The Ball plays an important role in helping Inprint fulfill its mission of championing creative writing and reading. Each year, The Poets and Writers Ball provides nearly $100,000 in fellowships and other assistance to the renowned UH Creative Writing Program, the heart of Houston's literary life. Inprint has given more than $1 million in support to the Program since 1983. Funds raised at the Ball also enable Inprint to serve Houston through community-based programs such as writing workshops for school teachers, senior citizens, and Fifth Ward youth. Inprint has also brought to town hundreds of great writers, including several Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners and major African American, Asian American, and Hispanic authors. We invite you to become an underwriter for this Ball. For further information about The 2007 Poets and Writers Ball, please contact Inprint at 713.521.2026 or inprint@airmail.net.
